Rajkot students have come up with an eco-friendly ink

Two school students have come up with innovative and eco-friendly ink in six colours from entirely unusual recourses like fruits and vegetables in Rajkot. Pooja Dholakia and Ridhi Dasani of S. G. Dholakia School, Gujarat conducted successful experiments and managed to extract ink from vegetables. The teenagers have formulated six natural eco-friendly ink colours by crushing beetroots, turmeric, coriander and a motley of other vegetables.

“Vegetable dyes are also used in fabric printing. So we thought to use it in sketch pens as well. So we tried to analyze what happens from the colours extracted from vegetable and flowers. When we experimented, we got many colours, and hence, we initiated the project,” said Pooja Dholakia
