The legend of modern Urdu and Gujarati ghazalkar, the great poet, an artist, a calligrapher, a play-writer, a great husband and a kind father, Adil (Farid) Mansuri passed away this morning (6th November, 2008) at Hackensack Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ due to a Heart Attack. આદિલ સાહેબને હ્રદયપૂર્વક શ્રધ્ધાંજલી..

Here are few of my favorite Ghazals…
“જયારે પ્રણયની જગમાં…”
જયારે પ્રણયની જગમાં શરૂઆત થઈ હશે
ત્યારે પ્રથમ ગઝલની રજૂઆત થઈ હશે
પહેલા પવનમાં કયારે હતી આટલી મહેક
રસ્તામાં તારી સાથે મુલાકાત થઈ હશે
ઘૂંઘટ ખૂલ્યો હશે અને ઊઘડી હશે સવાર
ઝૂલ્ફો ઢળી હશે ને પછી રાત થઈ હશે.
ઊતરી ગયા છે ફૂલોના ચહેરા વસંતમાં
તારા જ રૂપરંગ વિશે વાત થઈ હશે
‘આદિલ’ને તે દિવસથી મળ્યું દર્દ દોસ્તો
દુનિયાની જે દિવસથી શરૂઆત થઈ હશે

નદીની રેતમાં રમતું નગર મળે ન મળે,
ફરી આ દ્રશ્ય સ્મૃતિપટ ઉપર મળે ન મળે.
ભરી લો શ્વાસમાં એની સુગંધનો દરિયો,
પછી આ માટીની ભીની અસર મળે ન મળે.
પરિચેતોને ધરાઈને જોઈ લેવા દો,
આ હસતા ચહેરા; આ મીઠી નજર મળે ન મળે.
ભરી લો આંખમાં રસ્તાઓ, બારીઓ, ભીંતો,
પછી આ શહેર, આ ગલીઓ, આ ઘર મળે ન મળે.
રડી લો આજ સંબંધોને વીંટળાઈ અહીં,
પછી કોઈને કોઈની કબર મળે ન મળે.
વળાવા આવ્યા છે એ ચ્હેરા ફરશે આંખોમાં,
ભલે સફરમાં કોઈ હમસફર મળે ન મળે.
વતનની ધૂળથી માથુ ભરી લઉં ‘આદિલ’,
અરે આ ધૂળ પછી ઉમ્રભર મળે ન મળે.

India’s Viswanathan Anand drew the 11th game of the 12-game World Chess Championship final with white pieces against Vladimir Kramnik to take an unbeatable 6.5-4.5 lead and retain his world title.

The game ended in a draw after 24 moves as Kramnik failed to find a win despite trying to complicate the game.

Anand won three games, the third, fifth and sixth and lost the 10th in a match that looked one-sided till Kramnik brought back some life with a win in 10th game.

The world championship match in Bonn, Germany, may not be over, but it is certainly not looking good for the challenger, Vladimir Kramnik of Russia. Viswanathan Anand of India, the world champion, won his third game of the match yesterday and now leads the best-of12 contest 4.5 to 1.5.
